Product features of a high-quality garden parasol

UV protection: not all shades are created equal

Every parasol in the garden casts shade during the day, but not every garden parasol automatically protects against harmful UV rays. The UV protection of a parasol in the garden depends on the weight, density and material of the parasol canopy. Commonly used coatings such as Teflon® and Scotchgard®, for example, only affect the water permeability of a canopy, but not the UV resistance of parasol fabric. Glatz uses UV-stabilised fabrics for its canopies. This means that we guarantee a high UV protection of more than 98 per cent for all garden parasols.

Lightfastness is essential

The UV rays contained in sunlight affect the fabric of a garden parasol. They make the colours change. Coloured fabrics fade, and light shades become yellow. How quickly and to what extent this happens depends on the lightfastness of the canopy. In the case of a garden parasol with very low lightfastness, you will observe considerable colour changes after just a few days. With a Glatz parasol with a lightfastness level of 7 to 8, you will still be able to enjoy the original colour even after many years.

Robust elegance

Parasols for the garden are exposed to wind. A strong gust of wind will easily topple a poorly constructed garden parasol. It will twist or even fall over. This can cause damage to the parasol or the frame. Glatz puts every single parasol model through an endurance test in the wind tunnel. The sturdy construction with only high-quality materials, reinforced fabric corners, reinforced ribs and stable joints make a Glatz parasol extremely wind-resistant. Subject to adherence to the safety instructions, our garden parasols withstand wind speeds of up to 100 kilometres per hour. Please note that the maximum permissible wind speeds apply to a horizontally positioned parasol roof and require fixed anchoring in the ground.

Water-repellent garden comfort

An inconspicuous coating makes a high-quality parasol for the garden water-repellent. The higher the water column of the fabric used, the better it protects against rain. A Glatz garden parasol of fabric quality 5 has a water column of > 350 mm. Even a sudden summer rain has little effect on this fabric. This way, a sociable get-together in the garden can be continued under the parasol without any problems.

Features

Glatz offers you a choice of over 20,000 parasol combinations:

Garden parasols from Glatz have a variety of devices with which you can adjust the parasol roof to the changing position of the sun via a bending or stepless tilting function. Some models even have a gas compression spring included in the parasol pole, which ensures that the parasol height can be easily adjusted. Depending on the model, cantilever parasols have ball-bearing turnable bases that allow the parasol to be rotated by 360 degrees.

Depending on where you want to place your parasol in the garden, various mobile and fixed parasol fixation options are available:

- Mobile fixation using a base with or without castors

- Balcony clamp for fixation on railings

- Fixed anchoring on the wall using a wall console
